Sports & active holidays in the Gastein valley

Summer in Gastein offers everything an active holiday maker could wish for. Delightful hikes, cycling, mountain biking, horseback riding through a fantastic mountain landscape, or a round of golf on one of the most beautiful courses in Austria’s Salzburger Land are just waiting to be discovered.

If you like other kinds of sports, there are numerous activities to complete the offer. Whether it’s unlimited fun at one of the tennis courts (30 outdoor courts within a five-minute walk and six indoor courts right next to the Hotel Bismarck); testing your own limits whilst climbing, rafting or paragliding; practicing archery on the adventure course; relaxing and meditating during yoga classes or while fishing: there is something to do for everyone, regardless of age.

Golfing

The closest golf course is only a 5-minute drive from the hotel and as a guest at the Hotel Bismarck you receive a 25% discount on every green fee at the Bad Gastein golf course. There is also a preferential price for the Golf-Alpin-Pass (3 or 5 green fees) e.g. for Goldegg (25 minutes' drive), Zell am See (40 minutes' drive) or Radstadt (50 minutes' drive). We are happy to book your preferred tee times for you in advance.

Cultural and nature activites

hanks to its diverse history and tradition, the Gastein Valley also offers great cultural activities. The numerous festivals and events make history come alive, whilst museums provide interesting information and show how the Gastein Valley, its people and its culture came to be.

Exhibitions, installations, open studios, creative workshops, concerts, summer theatres and countless other cultural and artistic activities throughout the summer (June to October) keep the Gastein Valley fresh and lively.

Concerts with the Salzburg Philharmonic
In the Alpine Arena: open air concerts, five minutes from the Hotel Bismarck. In bad weather it is moved to the Kursaal Hall, also just a five-minute walk from the Hotel Bismarck. There is an afternoon concert every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, and an evening concert from 8:00 to 9:15 pm.

The absolute highlight of the summer season (July to August) in Bad Hofgastein is shopping, music, dance and entertainment in the pedestrianised area, which runs until 10:00 pm every Thursday night. Free entry!
